Our Story
Three decades of passion, innovation, and commitment to the art of fly fishing.
The Joy that Started it All

Born from Adventure—Driven by Purpose
A. Winston Outfitters was born on Pennsylvania's trout streams, where two four‑legged explorers—Arlo and Winston—trotted faithfully at our side. Their boundless curiosity and the joy of sharing wild water together inspired both our name and our craft.
Today, we create precision fly‑tying tools and river‑ready gear that carry that same spirit of exploration. Every purchase helps protect the future of the places we love, funding habitat restoration, youth angling programs, community clean‑ups, and animal rescues.
From a humble garage bench to anglers across the globe, we remain guided by two constants: the dogs who started it all, and the waters we're committed to protecting. We hope we can bring you as much joy as they have brought us.

Casting in Good Company
Every outing with Arlo and Winston reminds us that the best days on the water are the ones shared with our four‑legged adventurers. Their boundless energy, unshakable curiosity, and knack for turning a quiet fishing hole into a full‑blown splash‑fest make every trip unforgettable. We've learned that if we have any hope of catching anything when they decide to cool off midday, we need the absolute best gear we can make (and we highly recommend keeping the splash radius downstream).
At home, they're just as much a part of our fishing life—often curled up for a nap while we tie flies, dreaming of their next great adventure. And that's the point: fishing isn't just about the catch. It's about the shared experience, the thrill of exploration, and the memories made with those who make the journey richer.
Today, that spirit of adventure flows through every product we design, every story we share, and every angler we inspire to bring their own best friend along for the ride.
A Legacy in the Making
Founded on the water — launched in 2025
A. Winston Outfitters sprang to life on Pennsylvania's limestone creeks in 2025, but its soul was forged over decades—and thousands of river miles. From chasing Chinook in misty Washington estuaries to probing Minnesota's shield-lakes, stalking the big water of the Madison and Yellowstone, picking pocket water in Utah canyons, coaxing trout from drought-thin SoCal freestones, sight-casting in Florida's mangrove back-lakes, and now walking hatch-rich runs on the Delaware and the Tully—we've fished it all and broken plenty of gear along the way.
Those lessons, plus the insight of master fly-tiers who field-test every prototype, drive a single-line mission:
If we wouldn't trust it on a tough hatch, it doesn't ship.
Each tungsten bead, CNC-milled tool, and neatly spooled leader carries two promises:
- Precision you can feel in the first cast.
- Stewardship you can trust, with every sale funneling dollars back to habitat restoration, youth angling, community clean-ups, and animal rescue.
Your river legacy starts now—ours is just getting going.

Boundless Passion, Shared Waters
Fly fishing is a passport to wild places and to community. Whether you're launching a first roll cast on an urban pond or breathing hard above a Wyoming sweep-riffle, the river demands the same three things: patience, curiosity, and gear that won't quit when the take finally comes.
That's why we fuse bench-top craftsmanship (hand-polished hook eyes, perfectly tapered leaders) with modern engineering (slotted tungsten beads, zero-memory mono). Gear that disappears in your hand lets you stay present for the moment line meets life.
Every A. Winston piece is:
- Co-developed with pro tiers and guides who earn a living abusing gear.
- Individually inspected here in Berks County before it leaves the shop.
- Purpose-driven, funding the waters and communities that make stories possible.
What's next? Region-specific fly boxes and tool kits dialed for the waters we've lived and fished—from Puget Sound to the Upper Delaware. Drop your email below and you'll be first to know when they launch.
Wherever your journey leads—salmon surges on Puget Sound, technical drifts on the Upper Delaware, or the creek behind the house—we're honored to ride along. Because passion doesn't clock out, and neither do we.
Our Commitment to Sustainability
Environmental Stewardship
We're building every product around a simple goal: leave a lighter footprint on the water. Upcoming targets include shipping every order in 90% post-consumer recycled paper and moving to plastic-free cushioning by 2026. We're also testing biodegradable leader spools and water-based inks.
Carbon-Neutral by 2030
Our Pennsylvania workshop already operates on 100% solar power—both our home and our production space run entirely on renewable energy. To reach net-zero across the whole business we will expand our reach to include suppliers with the same 2030 net-zero goal.
Community & Conservation Support
A portion of sales flows directly to organizations that keep fish, rivers, and pets thriving.
